A Comprehensive Approach to Massage Therapy Training
Thank you so much for your interest in LifeStream Massage School. We hope this website will answer many of the questions you may have concerning classes, enrollment procedures and prices. After reading through our pages you will get a
feel of the wonderful programs we have been offering since 1988.
We teach both Basic and Advanced State of California approved courses of instruction that include a Basic 250 hour program and over 800 hours of Advanced courses in Deep Tissue Bodywork, Tui Na (Chinese Sports Massage), Advanced Anatomy and Bodywork, and Acupressure.
In the Basic 250 hour program, students learn three styles of massage: Swedish, LifeStream (a medium deep tissue massage) and Seated Chair Massage plus Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Anatomy & Physiology, Business Practices, Sexual Ethics and Contraindications. Our classes will give you the needed training to work in most types of massage settings.
The Basic Certification qualifies you to apply for a business license and a city massage permit to get you started. Some city and some employers may require you to have 500 hours of training and may require you to have the voluntary State certification through the CAMTC.
The CAMTC requires applicants to have 500 supervised hours, which includes a minimum of 100 hours of instruction in anatomy and physiology, contraindications, health and hygiene, and business and ethics. All of the 500 hours shall be from schools approved by the council.
Attendance and/or graduation from a California Massage Therapy Council approved school does not guarantee certification by the CAMTC. Applicants for certification must meet all requirements as listed in the California Business and Professions Code sections 4600 et. seq. Please contact them at www.CAMTC.org for more information.
